new music: Avec Sans

Another day and some more brand new and very good music to share with you, this time coming in the form of London based duo Avec Sans. Alice Fox and Jack St James, from Manchester and Trinidad respectively, have been together as a musical performing pair for the last two years, spending their time writing songs that have earned them comparisons to bands like Chvrches and playing shows all over the place.

The above track is the pair’s latest single ‘When You Go’ which is all atmospheric with dreamy electronics from the start. The ethereal, flowing sounds take us throughout this track giving us a total relaxed, chill out vibe. Vocally, the almost angelic harmonies play perfectly with the softer sounds and the bigger, fuller sounds of the choruses. It is a really great song and one that I can see turning the heads of many with its accomplished yet individual sound. Perfect for a chilled out summer’s evening listening.

They first got together to see if it was possible to make an electronic version of ‘Perth’ by Bon Iver, which it was and you can check that out here, and since then they have designed a shoe, done official remixes for the likes of Swiss Lips and Young Summer, played at fashion events in Milan and been featured on the catwalks of NY Fashion Week. They have also been picked up by UK music press and radio stations alike and The Guardian had this to say about the duo; “The pair have built up quite a reputation as “ones to watch”… with more interesting production touches and melodic hooks than most bands can muster in a career.”. Quite the feat of accomplishment for just two short years together making music.

Currently the band have US dates confirmed for later this year and they are now completing their debut album, an album I’m sure will be a great one to check out when it is released.
