new music: Callaghan – Best Year

Nashville based singer/songwriter Callaghan has over the past four years had a considerable amount of success over in the States selling over 10000 copies of her albums. The girl who is originally from Lincolnshire thinks the time is now right to make her debut in the UK having already featured on BBC4 documentary ‘My Nashville’ hosted by Bob Harris. The first track she’s decided to release over on these shores is the brilliant ‘Best Year’ which you can check out below:

The track which is out in February is all about following your dreams and is an uplifting modern day country style track. Acoustic guitar strums play perfectly alongside simple piano notes and the great lilting tones of Callaghan. When it gets to the chorus, the tempo picks up with a great rhythm and lots of melodies being added. It really is a track that will put a spring in your step and cheer you up however you are feeling.

Described as “Joyful listening” by The Huffington Post, Callaghan herself describes ‘Best Year’ as “an anthem for me, of determination, of hope, of joy, and of belief that anything is possible. It’s been with me on this journey for 4 years and I wanted to keep it by my side.”

After lots of touring, plenty of good press and many album sales from her four years in the US, it looks like good things are only to come from this songstress who is finally returning to her home to launch her successful music career. Radio 2 have already cottoned on to her great sounds having given her airtime and she will be over here in October for some dates that will support her new album ‘A History of Now’ which is set to be released in late spring.
