Marking their return from hiatus sees Leeds lads Down The Machine releasing a brand new single ‘Everything I Am Not’ available as a free download. Check out the new track below:
With scuzzy guitar and constant pounding drums starting this song before the lethargic vocals come in for the verse. The chorus sees a change in pace from slow and drawn out to fast paced and heavy with crashing drums and cymbals and almost screamed vocals. It is a good song that channels some of the best sounds of the 90’s and early 00’s alt-rock groups and brings them up to date for the audiences of today.
Having broke onto the UK rock scene back in 2009, the band were steadily building themselves up with more fans and bigger shows, creating a reputation as a band that were consistently producing good music. Music that has been compared to the likes of Soundgarden, Nine Inch Nails and Alice in Chains. Mixing alternative rock with hardcore industrial sounding electronics, it is a sound that won them a lot of fans and a lot of attention.
To date the band have released all their singles and their debut album through DIY or indie labels. Currently Down The Machine are recording their second album which is due for release in 2014 and will also see the first major release from the band under their new line up with founders vocalist Steve Wilson and guitarist Dan Millkin joined by new arrivals David Preston on drums and Darren Johnson on bass.
The years they have spent building up and maturing sonically as a band has seen them receive radio airplay all over the world and play various UK festivals including their last festival date of the season which was a couple of week’s ago at Roxfest in Lancashire. More dates for the band are due to be added soon though with the release of their second full length due early next year, so keep an eye out for those.
