Friday night drink after a busy first week back at work / My boyfriend bought me this Raspberry and Lavendar jam for Christmas and it is absolutely delicious! / I featured some great books to curl up with this winter on the blog recently including this spy thriller / Spent a Friday night with my boyfriend enjoying burgers and a trip to the cinema / The delicious Zucca pizza at Zizzi’s / Hot Chocolate to warm up on a chilly Saturday afternoon
I decided not to do a This Week round up post last week because of just how weird a week it was. The deaths of David Bowie and Alan Rickman affected me a lot and I spent most of the week in some weird daze just trying to get from one day to the next and burying myself in work and spending my evenings having a lack of energy or inspiration to do anything bar sit and watch TV.
Last weekend saw a slight change in my mood where I spent more time with the two people I care about most in the world and enjoyed just having some time with them, relaxing and celebrating. It was my mum’s birthday earlier in the week and we’d not been able to properly celebrate with me being at work so on the Saturday we went into town to do some shopping, go for a meal and have some drinks before deciding to come home before the snow got too bad. On the Friday, me and my boyfriend had a rare night to ourselves to go out and enjoy ourselves with lovely burgers from Handmade Burger and going to watch The Revenant, which though stunning acting and cinematography wise, it was way too long and could easily have been cut down by a good half an hour or so.
It’s been a busy and odd week this week, not one I’ve enjoyed a lot and I’ve eaten like crap so I feel a bit disappointed in myself overall but starting this weekend I’ve decided to start having a much more positive outlook. I’m spending this weekend doing what I want to do and I have time to spend with my boyfriend too which is a nice change that we get to spend the whole weekend together. Positivity and an emphasis on wellbeing and fitness from now on is exactly what I will be aiming towards.

In case you missed it, here are my tracks of the week posts for the last two weeks:
What I’ve Been Reading:
- This great post by Marisa Bate on The Pool about some important lessons of feminism from two great and inspiring women.
- The great column from Lauren Laverne on The Pool all about a recent film that highlights the loneliness many people in the UK feel and how there is a big difference between being lonely and just being alone.
- A great and powerful article about the importance and experience of univeristy and how it should be open to all those who want it, regardless of money or social status. [Marisa J Bate, The Pool]
