tracks of the week #126

Tears For Fears – Everybody Wants To Rule The World

I heard this track this week on a random playlist that I was listening to on Spotify and it was one of those moments where I metaphorically punch myself for not listening to this enough over the past few years. I grew up in a house with parents obsessed with 80’s music and hearing it constantly means that it has all seeped in and whenever I hear acts such as Tears For Fears it reminds me of being a child and always having an awareness of this song and this band. If you’ve never given this band a listen, make sure you do because they are one of the standout acts of the 80’s in my opinion.

Depeche Mode – Enjoy The Silence

Unwittingly, I’ve gone for an 80’s theme here, even though this song was released in the 90’s Depeche Mode are really labelled as an 80’s band in the main. I have a lot of time for Depeche Mode, their tracks are brilliant and some of the best pop meets alternative going, definitely becoming the basis and a spring board for so many people since their inception. This is just a great track, there is nothing more I need to say than that really because it is and the track does speak for itself in its brilliance. The video is pretty damn good too so make sure you check it out above.
