new music: Yumi and the Weather

Today, I’m bringing you some new music from Brighton based Ruby Taylor, aka Yumi and the Weather. After receiving plenty of support since her first release back in 2013, she’s now back to release her brand new EP later this month and you can check out the title track ‘Something Tells Me’ below:

The track opens with synth sounding guitar and electronic beats making for the perfect mix of rhythm and melody to really grab your attention. As the vocals are added, their high-pitched, almost distorted nature give a different edge to this one where the complete the produced sounds but also maintain their sense of harmony which is audiable throughout. There are so many wonderful sounds going on throughout this from oscillating keys to atmospheric notes creating a quite unique and superb track to listen to.

Yumi and the Weather released their first EP back in 2013 entitled ‘All We Can’ which was picked up by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Tom Ravenscroft and Radio 1 as well as receiving plenty of praise online from the likes of Noisey, DIY and Line of Best Fit. All that support as well as a great EP to fall back on created a solid fanbase for Taylor and that is the fanbase that continues to support her now in the come up to this new release.

The next few months should be an exciting and important time for Yumi and the Weather so make you sure you keep an eye and ear on this one.
