Today, I have some music news for you from an artist I have featured on here many times in the past. Indie singer/songwriter Steve Jones aka Stylusboy has been away for a few months but over that time he’s been busy writing for the new releases set to come very soon. You can check out the track ‘Hospitality For Hope’ taken from the album of the same name released in 2013 and a live version of the track will be found on one of the new releases from Stylusboy:
Having listened to a little sampler of both new releases, I can tell you that they will capture many people’s imagination especially the ‘Christmas Lights’ EP which is packed with ethereal moments, heartwarming folky sounds and plenty of beautiful harmonies. I think whether you are a fan of Christmas or not, you will really enjoy this uplifting and wonderful collection of Christmas songs that will truly put you in the mood for the big day. The live album is great, the beauty and intricacies found throughout Stylusboy’s music have been captured wonderfully whilst the quality of sound gives you the feeling of being right there with everyone at that show.
Last year, Stylusboy was asked to perform by the BBC before the annual Coventry Cathedral Christmas Carol performance and play live on air as part of their 12 days of Christmas. From that event came the idea for this Christmas’ outing in the form of a brand new EP entitled ‘Christmas Lights EP’ which is a collection of festive songs featuring collaborations with his wife and children, all recorded in The Truffle Room Studio.
The ‘Christmas Lights’ EP will be released on 11th December, on the same day ‘Tales From Home: Live at the Manor House’ will be released too. After playing many a live show from headline slots to supporting John Smith, Grant Lee Phillips and more as well as playing at a multitude of festivals from Warwick Folk Festival to Moseley Folk Festival, the idea for a live album was probably a pretty obvious one. This ‘Tales From Home’ album was recorded live at Manor House in the heart of Derbyshire in July 2015 and as well as the live set, there are 3 new tracks on there for you to enjoy.
After a series of EP’s and success with debut album ‘Hospitality for Hope’, Stylusboy has gathered together quite a loyal and lovely fanbase, something that is surely only set to grow with these next two releases. The album and EP will be released on the same day digitally and will be available as limited edition CD’s in handmade sleeves.
The duel release will be celebrated with a show at one of the Midland’s most intimate venues, The Big Comfy Bookshop in Coventry on 11th December. You can find out more about the show here.
