new music: Speaking In Shadows

Today, I have some new music for you all from Nuneaton born quintet Speaking in Shadows. The alt-rock five piece have spent the past few years building up a great back catalogue and a great fanbase too. After so much hardwork, these guys are building up to the release of their latest EP ‘The Anchor’ later on this month.

The above track is their latest single ‘Capsized’ taken from that soon to be released EP and it is a great taster of a progression in the bands sound since their last release and what is to come from them in the near future. The single is raw and brilliant from the off. Chugging riffs and great melodies intertwine to create a wonderful basis and feature of this one, while drums pound, bass lines hold everything together with their deep tones and vocals play with harmonies throughout. It is those vocals which compliment the guitars perfectly and makes this one a real stellar first single from the guys third full release.

Having already released an album back in 2011, a stand-alone single in 2013 and an EP in 2014, the band have been nothing short of busy, consistently pushing themselves musically. All this has gained them airplay on the likes of Kerrang Radio and plenty of nice words said about them in publications online and in print.

The plan now is to tour this new EP as relentlessly as possible, hitting as many cities in the UK along the way as they can. For a bit more of an insight into the EP, the band had this to say about it; “This EP has taken us back to our roots – no agendas, no concepts, no gimmicks. We’re writing music that excites and inspires us, and hope that our songs will not only engage and entertain our listeners, but also empower and encourage them to find inspiration of their own.”
