This week has been a bit of a weird one for me. In my personal and family life, a lot has been going on but it now seems like it may be the beginning of a new and better chapter which I guess makes up for the weird and at times stressful week. I’m not going to talk about it on here but I think I’m nearly on the page of looking forward to what the future brings which is the most positive I’ve felt in a while.
Elsewhere, it’s been a mix between being busy and making time for the things I really enjoy. On Tuesday, me and my boyfriend went to a talk by author Philippa Gregory, luckily for me he doesn’t mind me dragging him along to random things that I enjoy even if he’s never heard of the person. For those not aware, Gregory has written a plethora of books about Medieval history all told through the female characters perspective, drawing a lot from actual events but also adding a pinch of drama to make this a mix between a fictional novel and a history book told in a much more interesting way. She’s recently released her latest book ‘The Taming of the Queen’ about Henry VIII’s sixth wife Katherine Parr and to celebrate she is doing a tour talking about her books, it was a great night and I totally enjoyed myself geeking out about Medieval history. If you’ve not read any of her books yet, I urge you to do so especially if you have a fascination with all things Medieval like I do.
Before the talk, we headed to Street Food Chef for my first taste of the acclaimed highlight of Sheffield’s culinery menu. I’m surprised in myself that I’ve never been before but it was great, the food delicious and I’ll not spoil it too much because I have a full review coming soon.
Apart from that I’ve spent the week writing for the blog and writing some pieces I’m really interested in, where they end up no one knows. I’ve been reading a lot, I’m on my third book in 3 weeks which for me is very good, I’ve finally caught up on my TV shows ready for the Autumn when I’ll be bombarded with new series galore and at the weekend me and my boyfriend painted the ceiling in the bathroom which is a job I’ve been meaning to do for over a year. It’s amazing how a few coats of paint on a ceiling makes a room look fresher and more inviting but it does, now to finish the rest of the room and finish the garden plans before winter.

What I’ve Been Reading:
– A great and thought povoking piece by Lauren Laverne on The Pool’s website kicking off the week long look at the tyranny of the timeline and the pressures on women to acheive certain things by certain ages. It’s made me feel differently about what I want to achieve and made me look back and see what I already have achieved, something I’m terrible at admitting.
