A couple of weekends ago, I took my boyfriend to Bridlington for his birthday. It was one of the first places we ever went together when we first started seeing each other so it is quite a meaningful place for that reason. Now, pretty much exactly a year later, we went back as a couple to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday but I guess also our first year together as our anniversary fast approaches.
We arrived on the Saturday at around 1pm and headed straight from the train station to the seafront to eat our pack up by the sea. I’m fully aware of how British that prospect is. After a leisurely lunch, we checked into our apartment which was right on the seafront with a beautiful view of the sea and had an hour or two to chill out. The apartment itself was absolutely stunning! It was a 4 star place and I can see why, so well furnished, a king size bed, a great wetroom/bathroom, sofa, Freeview and perfect fresh coffee for the morning. I can’t complain about the Carlton apartments, they were great, the service was brilliant, location excellent and for the four stars, it was very reasonably priced.
After an hour or so rest, we headed out for a walk around the town looking to discover some things away from the seafront but inevitably we ended up back there on our way back to the apartment. After a quick change, we headed over to the South Beach to the Rags Restaurant on the seafront for a lovely meal. The place itself is a lovely location, with a restaurant and pub onsite too and the restaurant situated upstairs. The meal itself was absolutely delicious and lovely and I know that it was a great choice of place that I’m glad I booked in advance as it got pretty busy. There’ll be a full review of the restaurant and the food on here very soon.
After the meal, it was heading well into the evening so we headed to a couple of pubs for a few drinks to carry on celebratins before heading back to the apartment around 11:30 and I was in bed by midnight. The bed was super comfortable and I had the best night’s sleep in a long time, all I need in my life right now is a king size bed please.
The next morning, we had a couple of hours to fill before our train so we checked out of the apartment, sad to see it go, at around 10am and headed off for a good breakfast to set us up for the day. After a couple of hours walking around, picking up little trinkets and my boyfriend trying to win me a cuddly dinosaur from the grabber machines, we decided it was definitely time for one last ice cream before heading back on the train to Sheffield after a lovely 24 hours in Bridlington.
