Today, I bring you some new music from a great new band from Sheffield, indie rock four piece The Wired. The band released their debut EP on 20th December last year with an EP launch show at Plug in Sheffield on top of that they also sold out The Rocking Chair last summer, a few great feats already for these guys means that they are catching the attention of many in the city and steadily building themselves a good fanbase.
The above track has a great mix of throwback indie sounds, rock afflications and a slight country edge to it. The slower tempo makes for a song where you can fully focus on the story of the lyrics as well as the musical quality. Whether it is the lilting melodies, the softly strummed guitars of the verses or the great percussion throughout there is a lot here to point towards great things now and to come from this quartet.
The guys only played their first gig back in June last year and since then they have gone up the ranks significantly throughout the city playing and selling out bigger and bigger venues. In March, they will be supporting fellow Sheffield band The SSS, which I wrote about here, which should make a for good night full of great local music.
The band are also soon to announce the release their new single this summer which will be backed up by a big headline show in Sheffield as well as a UK tour. It seems like exciting times are ahead for The Wired so make sure you keep up with these guys and see them on their soon to be announced upcoming tour if you can.
