Three of the finest musicians in England, Andy Cutting, Sam Sweeney and Rob Harbron, have come together to form a folk collaboration entitled Leveret. The three piece have already released their first EP ‘New Anything’ and you can check out ‘Bagpipers’ taken from the release below:
This one is a great folky number with almost jumping accordian sounds and wonderful flowing melodies throughout. The sounds work so well together creating a track that is gentle, pleasing to the ear yet completely interesting with the afflications of the notes. A great folk track for fans of old school folk music.
The guys have all collaborated with many other artists before in their time playing but now they have put their talents together to create this great new project. With Cutting as melodeon player, Sweeney as fiddle player and Harbron as a concertina expert; they have everything to create traditional English folk music with a fresh twist from their honest playing. They’ve been described by Martin Simpson as “Sublime, exquisite music – don’t miss them”
The band are on tour this February taking in everywhere from Birmingham to Cambridge and for all my hometown readers they will be hitting up Sheffield on that tour too. A show at Firth Hall in the city on Sunday 22nd February is sure to be a good one, tickets are £13.50 and you can find out more here.
