tracks of the week #81

Fleetwood Mac – Little Lies

I love Fleetwood Mac, they are a band many resonate with and for good reason. The tracks and lyrics especially are so heartfelt and personal that it is hard not to relate in some ways to what Stevie Nicks is singing to you. This track has been one of my favourites since childhood, back then I used to dance around to the wonderful melodies but nowadays it takes on a bigger meaning as I fully understand the quite heartbreaking lyrics. A true favourite of mine, now and forever.

The War on Drugs – Lost In The Dream

I’ve heard so much about The War on Drugs third album released last year and about how bloody brilliant it was and yet for some reason I’ve only just recently listened to it. Note to self: when reading countless great reviews of an album, trust their knowledge and listen to the album, there is a 95% chance that it really is brilliant! As soon as I put the album on it was something I fell in love with; the gentle, weaving melodies, the sparseness and minimalism throughout, the warming and comfortable atmosphere that could quite easily lull you off to sleep and the spectacular lyricism. It really is a great album and one of the best of last year, if only I’d found that out sooner.
