tracks of the week #77

Flyte – Light Me Up

I was introduced to this track and band last week and quite honestly straight away I knew this was a song I just had to feature on here at some point. The song is great but the chorus is so goddamn catchy, I challenge you to not have it stuck in your head after just one listen. With a mix of older catchy 80’s pop sounds and modern day indie reminiscent of the likes of Vampire Weekend, it is a winning combination with that infectious chorus full of hooks, shimmery sounds, a summery feel and a great lyric that will be echoed around plenty of venues and festival fields over years to come.

The single is out now here and you can find out more about the band on their Soundcloud page.

Kasabian – Club Foot

After going to see Kasabian last weekend they have obviously been a band I have been listening to a lot lately. This track is still one of my favourite songs of theirs of all time and played live it is even better. As a band that have made such a huge and definitive mark on the UK rock scene, Kasabian have spanned genres to include in their music and as a result have gained a big and varied fanbase. For me, their older stuff will always be their best stuff especially their very first album.
