new music: Arran Page

24 year old West Midlander Arran Page is a multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter who is currently catching the attention of many with the first single to be taken from his soon to be released album ‘Taking Time’. Page, who can play guitar, piano, mandolin and mouth organ, started playing the guitar at 13 and never looked back from then as he started to forge out a career as a musician through practice, song writing and eventually becoming a regular on the bars and clubs scene in the West Midlands.

Starting out fronting a three piece band Lipzkin, whose influences ranged from David Gray and Regina Spektor to Kurt Cobain and Tom Waits. The band had instant success signing to Molamon Records in 2013, releasing an album and playing small stages at O2 Academies. But now Arran has decided to go it alone and is gearing up to the release of his first solo LP which is set to be a personal reflection on the life trials of a 24 year old.

The above track is called ‘All I Ask’ and is the first single to be taken from the upcoming release. Starting off with gentle guitar strums and atmospheric bass sounds, it creates a calming mood from the off before vocals come in singing of a story about love with a voice that portrays plenty of emotion. The drums perfectly compliment the softer yet deep tones of the track while the chorus is slightly more upbeat with a quicker tempo, a fast funky bass line and tinkling keys in the final chorus.

Here is what Page had to say about the single and his music; “The single is a deeply personal rock/pop ballad that is a request to the listener to take me as I am – but then, who has not begged that question of others at some point in their lives? I aim to give audiences intimate and energetic music that moves them in many ways.”
