Dress – Dorothy Perkins / Silver Brogues – Primark / Cat Bag – Primark / Socks – George at Asda / Necklace – Boutique in Rome
After a week off from outfit posts and reassessing my fashion and outfit inspiration moving it from summer to autumn, I’m back with a pretty retro inspired outfit. The dress I bought a couple of years ago now and I loved it as soon as I saw it. I’m never usually one of basic dresses but the monochrome colour scheme and 60’s swing style cut with half length sleeves totally drew me in to buying this one. It’s probably the most comfortable yet smart and dressy dress that I own, the cut with it being slightly oversized and a bit more on the smock style makes it the perfect dress for dance out dancing with friends or for meals where you know you are going to eat a bit too much.
Every time I have worn this dress before it has been with tights and ballet pumps but I wanted something a bit more me for this hence the slightly geeky looking outfit and quirky accessories. Cute frilly socks, silver brogues and a cat face bag really do fit that bill. The vintage inspired outfit I have kept quite basic colour-wise playing up the monochrome of the dress. My favourite thing at the moment is a well put together monochrome outfit with a pop of colour or a quirky accessory somewhere to add that little bit of interest to what could become a pretty safe ensemble.
What’s your opinion on all monochrome outfits? And retro inspiration?
