Floral Dress – Primark / Black Blazer – New Look / Pastel Blue Handbag – Zara / Silver Jelly Sandals – Primark / Owl Necklace – Boutique in York / Watch – Casio
As much as I try not to draw attention to the fact I’m wearing skin coloured tights, just how obvious have these photos made it. Firstly, my legs are 10 times more tanned than the rest of me and secondly how shiny do they look in the photo of my sandals, I never even knew they were that sparkly until now. Note to self, get a better pair of skin coloured tights preferably one that matches my ghostly pale skin better.
Onto the outfit though, as soon as I saw the sun out recently I knew it was the perfect time to find something bright, colourful and much more me than the more muted tones that I usually stick to in winter. This dress is perfect for that, I bought it a couple of years ago in Primark before I went to New York in my attempt at a better summer wardrobe. I still love this dress loads but over the past few years I’ve lost a lot of weight so it is a little on the large side for me now. That won’t deter me though from the brightness, colour clashing and the sheer amount of flowers shoved on this easy to wear dress that is perfect for summer in the city, at a festival or on the beach.
As it was still a little chilly I threw on this blazer from New Look which is around 4 years old now so again it’s huge on me but I’ve not found a black blazer I like as much as this to replace it with so it stays in my wardrobe for now. The black was definitely the best option for a dress like this and adds a bit of smartness to my very casual look otherwise. The jelly sandals are my prized possession right now, I wanted some of these so bad as a kid and my mum never let me have any so now they are back in fashion I have bought my own pair and I love them so much I don’t think these will be leaving my feet much through the summer. My new bag from Zara is still getting a lot of love, at just the right size to fit in the essentials, such a defined shape and a lovely pastel shade for spring, I can see this getting so much use over the next few months.
It might not be a full on summer outfit but it’s a start in my books, come actual summer I’ll lose the blazer and the tights and get my sunglasses and maybe my acid wash backpack especially if I’m at a festival and I’ll be good to go for a full on summer outfit obviously made even more complete with those jelly sandals.
What do you guys think of jelly sandals? Acceptable in adulthood or should they have stayed in the 90’s and our childhood?
