The Throwback Tuesday weekly post is a opportunity for me to revisit the good, cheesy, forgotten or essential parts of music, film, tv and books from my childhood, the past few years or the generations/eras/works of art that have influenced my life in some way.
This week the throwback Tuesday post returns after a break for my holiday with a 90’s classic and literally one of my favourite songs ever from my childhood which I’m not going to lie I still love a hell of a lot today.
Let me remind of the wonder that is ‘Brimful of Asha’ by Cornerhop. Remember the girl in the video dancing around the room listening to her favourite vinyl records, that was basically me when this song came on the radio or when I was listening to my favourite tracks on CD or cassette tape.
In reality we all know that this is not exactly the greatest song that has ever been written but when you grow up with a song on the radio all the time I think it somehow engrains itself into your brain and I think that is exactly what has happened here. It is also catchy as hell so maybe that helped things along a bit too. I’m pretty sure these guys were a one hit wonder though, wasn’t the 90’s full of those, as I genuinely do not know any other song by them at all.
Regardless of that fact we can still relive ours youths with a little bit of 90’s nostalgia and let me know the tracks that you heard loads of as a child and still have a love for today regardless of whether it’s good, bad or cheesy.
