recent beauty buys

Prepare yourselves for a bit of a beauty haul. I’ve bought plenty of new beauty bits and pieces recently, most of which have impressed me and one item in particular after it’s first use I loved instantly and knew it was something I was going to be a huge fan of and use a lot. There’s just going to be mini reviews of these products coz I’m no professional beauty blogger and there is a lot to talk about. So here goes:

Maybelline Color Show Nail Varnish in Winter Baby and Wine Shimmer

I love these nail varnishes. With such a huge array of colours/shades and all for a very affordable price you can’t go wrong. Thin circular bottles look cute and in terms of the polish itself, it is easy to apply and it isn’t gloopy. It takes about 2 coats to get a good build up of colour and it dries very quickly. In terms of wear, it’s average around 3-4 days maybe a bit longer depending on how much you use your hands. For the price and colour range though I would completely recommend these and I fully intend on expanding my collection of Maybelline polishes.

Avon Colour Trend Top Coat in Rose Gold and Avon Nailwear Pro in Vintage Boutique

With my mum now being an Avon representative it means I get to see all the new products before they come out and I can get some epic discounts. That coupled with my ever growing interests in cosmetics and skincare has proved costly for my bank and the tiny amount of space I have in my box room. These two products I love though, I was a bit sceptical about browny/grey nail varnish but it actually looks lovely, definitely very vintage [think 70’s] and makes a perfect base under glitters or nail art etc. The rose gold glitter I’ve paired it with here in particular makes it look loads better. Plus rose gold glitter top coat is just beautiful. Both are great polishes, apply well and last a long time.

Seventeen Stay Pout Lipstick in Rule Breaker

Boots 3 for 2 resulted in the next two purchases. Mum asked me to get her a mascara and as it was 3 for 2 I obviously had to get 2 things for me. This lipstick was one of them, it looks really bright and in your face but when applied it’s actually slightly more toned down. It’s still a bright pink but with slight purpley/berry tones added in to make it that little more subtle. The wear is brilliant, it does not budge all day after eating or drinking, no need to reapply and application in the first place is brilliant. With such a good product and for a reasonable price I will be picking more of these in different shades.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Gel Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Gold

This was another of the 3 for 2 purchases and words can not describe how much I love this. I’m a bit late on them as I’ve seen they were a bloggers favourite months ago and I imagine they still are in many ways. They are absolutely brilliant and I’m so glad I bought one as I’ve been toying with the idea for ages. I went for this shade it’s not only lovely but would make a lovely base to build other colours on. I’ve worn this on it’s own with eyeliner for a subtler daytime look with no eyeliner smudging [an epic result for me] and at night with a gold over the top and eyeliner, again no smudges and the look stayed perfect all night. Applies easily, stays extremely well and it’s easy to get a good build up of colour from subtle looks to a more striking colour. What can I say bar I love these, I’ll have one in every colour please.

Avon 8-in-1 Eyeshadow Palette – Nudes Collection

The only eyeshadow palette I currently own is a smokey eyes one, with 4 colours from white, two greys through to a black. It’s amazing and I use it a lot especially on nights out when my default is the traditional smokey eye. However I needed something new and this was it. It’s still basic, neutral colours but that’s what I prefer eyeshadow wise but with 8 different nudes I have something to mess around with to create new looks from the daytime look with true nudes and a taupe through to the dramatic looks that can be created with darker shades and the sparkly gold. I’ve not had a proper mess around with this yet but I’ve tried out a couple of the shades and I love them, they apply well and last. The gold I used as mentioned above and it added a nice sparkle to my eye look and I know that will be getting a huge amount of love over the party season. For £10, this is a true bargain and I can see it getting a hell of a lot of use from me.
