new music: Futur Primitif – Time

US indie/folk duo Futur Primitif have recently released the new video, directed by UK animator/illustrator Hughey Herbert, for their new song ‘Time’. Check out the video to ‘Time’ below:

Some of you may already be aware of Futur Primitif but for those who aren’t they came about a couple of years ago now when singer/songwriter Daniel Lefkowitz left The Low Anthem and decided to start another project, that project is Futur Primitif. Performing as a duo with Jared Elmore, the pair are writing and playing some pretty amazing songs full of gentle yet excellent sounds.

It is a beautiful track full of ambience that sort of meanders along at a pedestrian pace with it’s laid back almost placid vocals and acoustic guitar strums. It is the sort of track you would listen to relax after a long day or just something to calm you, and everything going on around you, down. The wonder of the track is in it’s simplicity and though many would assume that me calling the pace of this song pedestrian is an insult, it isn’t, the fact that it is basic and goes at it’s own pace it what makes it so spectacular.

Having gained airplay on 6Music and XFM since their inception and very positive reviews from their first album released through Integrity Records ‘Machineteeth’ released in March this year, with The Sun saying “Very beautiful … 4/5”, it shows the pair are capturing the attention of the music press as well as plenty of listeners. The band toured the UK back in May, supported John Grant at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London and have played 2 sets at the End of the Road Festival at the end of August. Most recently they also filmed a session for Line of Best Fit which you can watch here.
